Waves in the Sea

Grief can be like unending waves in a sea, there are times when it wanes and you think you are doing well and other times when you feel like you are drowning beneath the weight of it. Today happens to be my father's birthday and it is the first one I have had to face without him. My husband and I celebrated with blueberry pancakes one of my dad's specialties! Today, is one of those days when the waves seem like a tsunami taking over, but the world doesn't stop because of my grief, so here I am writing to you in hopes that I can help someone else out there who is facing their own storm today.

Earlier today, I placed my plans and agenda in God's hands for the day. This was extremely helpful as it gave me the focus I needed to accomplish everything I had to do today, but my day is not over yet. The great thing is that God poured out His comfort and peace over my heart, which has held me still while the storm continues to rage around me. You see the peace and comfort did not take the waves away, instead they were like a life raft carrying me through it.

No matter the storm you are facing God can give you exactly what you need to face it, all you need to do is ask. “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened." Matthew 7:7-8

I am so thankful that God is with me through the waves and can calm my troubled heart in the midst of great sorrow. Think about what you need to get through today and ask God for it, then let Him carry you through the storm.
