Life Connections!

Life has a way of bringing us curve-balls that leave us feeling frustrated, confused and alone. This past weekend was challenging for me, and I was left feeling hurt, misunderstood and alone even though I was surrounded by people who love me. As I considered what I needed in the moment, I instantly thought about the most influential and impactful person I had in my life.

My grandmother was the most influential person in my life. In the most difficult phase of my youth she was my anchor and brought me comfort. She instilled in me an unwavering faith in God and confidence in who I was. She lived a life of honour, excellence and loved well. Even though she passed 23 years ago, I still remember her and hold her memory dear to my heart.

This past weekend, as I was struggling with what I was facing, I wished she were still here to give me her age-old wisdom. I could not confide in her, but I could imagine what she would tell me. I went through my jewellery box and found a necklace of hers that I was able to keep when she passed. It is a reminder that she loved me unconditionally, she saw value in me, and she always encouraged me to pursue the dreams and passions that God put in my heart.

I can hear her words and encouragement to me, and I am thankful for the memory that I have of her. This past weekend, I realized that her impact still lives on. Her example has been a guiding light showing me how I want to love others in my life. I aspire to be the kind of woman she was, which keeps me pursuing the path of purpose every day, regardless of those who discourage or oppose me.

In the difficult times, hold onto the things instilled in you, from those who were influential and important in your life. If they were right here with you, what would they tell you? What advice would they give you? What would they say to you to encourage you to not give up but to keep pursuing the dreams in your heart?

Most of all, I want to encourage you to stand firm, knowing that God loves you, accepts you and has a plan and a purpose for your life. He has the answers to everything you will ever face. Trust him with the details of your life, and be willing to wait for his wisdom in your life.
