The dictionary defines honour as high respect or great esteem. This means that it goes beyond respect and takes it an extra step. Respect needs to be earned, whereas honour is a gift. This means that if we honour someone, we give it freely, meaning there is nothing the person has done to earn it. Have you ever honoured another person in this way?
Honour and love work hand in hand. If you deeply love another person, then honour should also be present in the relationship. If you honour someone, then love should also be present. Likewise, if we want to show honour and are struggling to do so, we need to evaluate how well we are loving that other person. Are we patient with them? Are we kind to them? Are we quick to forgive them?
We will be discussing this topic more in our upcoming webinar on May 1, 2025 @ 7pm. If you would like to join us for this webinar click the button below to register and help us to create a culture of honour in our homes, community, and beyond.
